About the role

WHAT DOES AN ASSOCIATE RESEARCH SCIENTIST DO?

An Associate Research Scientist is responsible for running complex analytical methods on advanced analytical instruments e.g. gas and liquid chromatographic systems, MS, UV spectrometers, densimeters, and nephelometers, etc. Running analyses of raw, intermediate, and finished products. Troubleshooting and maintenance of all laboratory instruments. Provide analytical support to research, new products, and packaging development, processing, and bottling departments as needed.

ABOUT YOU

You have a B.S. in Chemistry with specialized training in the distillation field with 2 to 4 years of experience in quality assurance or other similar environments. You are self-motivated, and dependable, with good personal skills and a great eye for detail as well as troubleshooting and maintenance of all laboratory instruments.

Responsibilities

WITH OUR CONSUMER AT THE HEART, YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE TO:

Demonstrate an understanding of and complies with all:

laboratory safety requirements
analytical methods used in distilled spirit analyses
safe handling of hazardous chemicals
laboratory housekeeping procedures

Requires a working knowledge and understanding of chemical principles and theories related to existing laboratory instrumentation such as atomic absorption, gas and liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry. Also, must demonstrate the aptitude to master new technology in the chemistry field as well as distilled spirits.
Must comprehend and adhere to all Bacardi Analytical Procedures and have the capability to emend outdated methods.
Conduct instrument and method development, write procedures and train other personnel on new techniques.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO CREATE YOUR LEGACY

A working understanding of good general laboratory practices
Demonstrates general lab safety practices
Actual hands-on operational experiences with various above described lab equipment a plus
Must possess and apply strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented. Working knowledge of personal computing, Microsoft Office, GC Chemstation, Empower, and MSD Chemstation.
