About the role

Your Opportunity 

Nurturing our on-trade customer relationships and putting the consumer at the heart you will use your market insight to lead, drive and implement best in class category plans that inspire value growth across key high profile & high performing on trade customers.

You will be the go-to category expert for our route-to-market field sales and medium restaurant/bar chains teams whilst supporting the Senior Category Manager in delivering a category up-skilling program through the business.

Note: Whilst we do offer flexible working, you'll need to be in our UK commercial office in Winchester around two days a week.


  • Utilise consumer trends and your unrivalled customer understanding to identify opportunities for category initiatives that generate joint growth for key RTM, MPO & Independent customers and influence buying behaviours.
  • Support & upskill our commercial teams for them to confidently take a consultative category selling approach to their customers whilst developing and providing the necessary tools in order to do this.
  • For Bacardi-Martini to own the on trade proactively and when called upon contribute to the strategic planning process.
  • Independently develop & maintain strong category relationships with customers. Be flexible and creative in your approach as to how to best deliver this.
  • Develop ranging knowledge and build range rationale in our lead categories that can be used to educate and influence both internally and externally to primarily grow these categories whilst understanding the role of the Bacardi-Martini portfolio.
  • Understand and analyse various data sources that include CGA, Nielsen Answers and Kantar Alcovision along with utilising ad hoc research studies to develop consumer and market understanding.
  • Develop close working relationship with the internal Commercial Teams. Understand all commercial objectives and ensure regular communication between Cat Dev & commercial teams.
  • Provide reports to the business on customer and category trends & performance. Work with European Category Development and Customer Marketing teams to inform channel review meetings and future commercial propositions.

Skills and Experience

  • Understand and have experience of the on trade environment along with all the influencing touch points including Buyers, Bar Tenders, General Managers and  the drinks menu
  • Experience in Customer Marketing (e.g. Purchaser/Shopper Marketing, Category Management, Sales and Channel Strategy), preferentially in Category Management (at any level)
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to work with multiple continuous data sources and ad hoc research studies to produce actionable insights
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral. Proficiency in English language skills
  • Project management experience with strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise
  • Ability to present and convey information to a mix of large and small audiences whilst inspiring them in the process
