About the role

In this role, you will be accountable for the Category Development agenda for some of the key grocery customers in the UK. Your ability to manage multiple projects, as well as internal and external stakeholders at any given time will be key, as will be your comfort in working seamlessly within the matrix, in particular with the Commercial, Customer and Consumer Marketing teams.
  • You will build and develop best in class Category Development capabilities at UK level that will generate business opportunities and enable us to win in the marketplace.
  • You will ensure that the UK organization has the shopper and customer insights to build Channel and Purchaser propositions that win customer support for our growth plans and unlock incremental value for the Customer 
  • You will apply the global framework and capabilities to build Shopper Marketing programs in the grocery trade that drive profit and value share
You will be the part of the team of local experts on Shoppers and how their needs and decisions shape category choice and brand choice across channel segments. You will use this knowledge to inform Customer and Consumer Marketing so that we gain a competitive advantage in converting consideration to purchase. You will partner with Regional and Global teams to prioritize insight needs and build strategic customer plans

In this role, you will required to be in our Winchester office at least two days a week, but the rest of your time will  be split between visiting customers or working remotely. As part of the broader Category Development Community across Europe, you will occasionally travel to other markets in Europe. 

Responsibilities

Drive results & excellence in execution 
  • You will identify shopper trends and influence their buying behaviors in order to maximize profit for both the Retailer and Bacardi
  • Develop strong category relationships with the account(s) across all or specific categories 
  • Lead the Range Review process both internally and externally. Undertake data analysis, range, and space evaluation, and prepare planograms. Take the lead in presenting range recommendations to the trade, increasing level of input into range reviews to become a supplier of choice on all category reviews. 
  • Analyze multiple sources of data to fully understand responsibility categories. Develop full understanding of AC Nielsen, Kantar Worldpanel, JDA, Retailer Specific Data Tools (i.e. Dunnhumby, Retail Link), Ad Hoc research studies, and use appropriate data to drive understanding of your accounts shoppers.
  • Develop close working relationship with the internal Commercial Teams. Understand all commercial objectives and ensure regular communication between Category Development & commercial teams.
  • Develop full understanding of your accounts and find opportunities to develop further category projects to help deliver the retailer strategy, driving effective implementation and generating business opportunities for both customers and Bacardi 
  • Build and manage specific category-led Shopper Marketing programs in partnership with the Customer Marketing teams, including but not limited to in-store trials, on and off-shelf initiatives, online strategies, etc. 
  • Adapt and apply the UK Category Vision framework and strategy within the assigned customers / channels, embedding an occasion-based approach 
  • Provide reports to the business on customer and category trends & performance
  • Provide local shopper-specific insights to the European Category Development and Customer Marketing teams to inform channel review meetings and future commercial propositions.
  • Share, ‘steal’ and re-apply category-led activation ideas and executions from other markets where relevant programs and plans exist.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will have/be: 
  • Experience in Category Management from an FMCG company where category management is well developed
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with multiple continuous data sources to produce actionable insights
  • Familiarity with ad hoc research studies.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Strong organisational and time management skills and ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, but also self-sufficient and resilient when working without supervision
  • A proactive approach, able to move from insight through to strong execution
  • Experience with Project Management
