About the role

YOUR OPPORTUNITY
The role of the Bombay Sapphire Brand Home Commercial Manager is to lead the operational strategy and execution for  the Bar, Café and Retail across Laverstoke Mill in Hampshire, alongside any future Bombay Sapphire Brand Home or pop up. You will be responsible for driving operational standards, world class service and delivering the operational strategy in these areas. You will be responsible for delivering all aspects of a multi-faceted hospitality and tourism offering, connected to an iconic global brand. You will take the lead in driving all commercial objectives and initiatives alongside delivering the functional aspect of being housed in buildings of historical significance such as facilities and maintenance of your areas and environmental health and safety.

Working as part of the site leadership team, you will be confident in fearlessly taking action to improve all commercial aspects on site. You will appreciate our experiential needs as a business and support other teams like we are a family. As a line manager, you understand what is needed to set up your direct reports for success. You will represent the brand externally and internally and be prepared to liaise with the wider business to work on global initiatives. You will be a motivated team player with an appreciation of brand home operations. You will be based at Laverstoke Mill and report into the UK Brand Homes Operations Manager

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES - WITH OUR CONSUMER AT THE HEART YOUR KEY FOCUS WILL BE

Responsible for providing people and departmental leadership across the commercial functions of our business.
Focused on the growth and offering across our Bar, Cafe and Retail areas.
  • Provide leadership to your team with the aim of delivering the best distillery visitor experience in England. Provide coaching and Let’s Talk feedback to team, including leading on team engagement activities to build a Highly Engaged culture.
  • Set and deliver the strategic vision for commercial within Bombay brand home
  • Work in collaboration with sales and marketing team to align ongoing strategy 
  • Work with the Operations Manager to help create the on-site budget and its on-going management, including tracking and monitoring of the Revenue lines you are responsible for.
  • Managing profit driving and cost control measures of the Commercial functions of the business, as well as helping to implement new revenue driving initiatives. 
  • Leading the Duty Management team, ensuring all checklists and SOPs are checked and updated. As well as ad-hoc auditing of all Duty Managers. Duty Management of the business on a rotational basis as well as covering any Duty Manager shifts required due to holiday and or sickness. 
  • Understand, lead and comply with safety, quality and sustainability legislation, supporting audits and looking for continuous improvements.
  • Lead by example by actively delivering all experiences within the business from hosting guided tours to serving cocktails behind the bar.
  • Lead the growth of our commercial business to ensure it reflects the quality of our existing operations and grows to complement what has made us successful.
  • Deputise for the Visitor Centre Operations Manager during annual leave, sickness, or business travel
  • Partner with Commercial Supervisor on:
    • Managing resource and scheduling of your team within agreed budgets.
    • Leading the recruitment, induction and ongoing training of team members with focus on attracting the right talent into Bacardi.
    • Reservations support for multiple elements of the business, understanding the various booking channels and visitor profiles in this complex business.

Skills and Experience

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO CREATE YOUR LEGACY
  • Commercial by nature and detailed in execution, inspiring those around you to approach existing and new initiatives with a commercial mindset, putting the bottom line and consumer at the heart of every decision you make.
  • Ability to own EPOS systems and relationship management with focus on functionality development to support the business.
  • Demonstrable ability to inspire and lead a team to deliver world class visitor experiences – 2+ years team management experience preferred
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise variable work streams. 
  • Risk Management - Strong understanding of driving a safety culture, delivering quality experiences through safe management of the business
  • Sustainability focus, or aspirations to develop this skill aligning with our focused ambition for sustainability.
  • Experience dealing with food hygiene and licensing legislation, recognising that these form part of our desire to deliver excellence in every aspect of our operation.
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work closely with multiple stakeholders across different parts of an exciting but complicated business.
