About the role

Your Opportunity

An Engineering Support Technician works with UKOC Engineering Team to deliver best-in-class engineering operations across spirit process and manufacturing. Their key function is to demonstrate excellence in document management – including engineering standards and CAD drawing maintenance. They will act as custodian of all supporting documentation for maintenance and project engineering functions. S/he will contribute to Continuous Improvement activities at Bacardi to ensure that :
  • All relevant Bacardi and legislative standards are up to date and available for the UKOC Engineering Team to reference
  • All process and GA drawings are fully up-to-date, in CAD format and held in a controlled document process
  • Implement and manage a complete document management system for engineering resources
  • Assist in the development of engineering personnel in line with defined skills matrix and within CTMS process
  • Assist in the development of engineering performance reporting and process improvement
  • Strive to improve performance in line with World Class Manufacturing standards

Responsibilities

With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:
  • Responsible for the Implementation and management of effective document management process for UKOC Engineering Team.
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of Engineering Drawings – P&IDs / Gas / Schematics. Update drawing when required and ensure drawing registers are accurate and controlled
  • Assist with asset projects from concept and design through to implementation, testing and final handover ensuring that asset drawings and registers are updated to reflect the changes
  • Recommend and advise on engineering process improvements to support continuous improvement activities across the engineering function.
  • Assist in the development of the engineering team inline with current and future resourcing needs. Act as custodian of departmental CTMS and skills matrix
  • Where required, liaise with and support external suppliers/contractors. Support PTW requirements for any work by contractors (maintenance and projects).
  • Suggest improvements to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our assets.
  • Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement processes relevant to maintenance excellence and demonstrate commitment to site philosophy.
  • Maintain work area to 5S standards. Ensure it is maintained in a safe and effective condition.
  • Be aware of all relevant team KPIs and understand how you can contribute to improving them.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities within Engineering Operations
  • Identify and participate in training to assist in your own personal development and to improve productivity. This will include CompEx capability with knowledge of working within hazardous areas covered by the ATEX regulations.
  • Be proactive, ‘walk the floor’, challenge under performance, monitor trends and respond appropriately with an effective solution
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations within the workplace and strive to eliminate any potential hazards before they become accidents or incidents

Skills and Experience

Educational Requirements
  • Formal engineering qualification HNC / HND, or similar
  • Highly proficient in the use of CAD package(s)
Experience
  • Maintenance of P&ID and GA drawings on CAD package(s)
  • Document management processes – preferably within a production / operational environment
  • Working knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
  • Highly proficient on MS Office packages
  • Experienced in the creation of technical documents and reports
  • Worked in FMCG industry – spirits industry preferred
  • Understanding / experience of operations within a hazardous environment - ATEX / DSEAR
  • Understanding of common engineering regulatory standards such as PSSR, LOLER, PUWER etc.
  • An understanding of continuous improvement process such as LEAN / FMECA / TPM
  • Ability to build networks and provide support across a multi-site business
  • Experience of managing teams preferred, but not essential
