About the role


THE OPPORTUNITY

The UKOC is one of the most complex OCs within the Bacardi Group - running distillation, maturation and production of the Group’s Scotch Whisky and Gin product portfolio. This role provides the Financial Leadership and Stewardship of the OC, driving superior performance across the operations. Managing a fantastic, energetic, and engaged team, the role holder will continue building the positive and progressive financial culture of the OC, embedding financial awareness, knowledge, and ownership throughout the workforce. 

The Finance Director is a key Leadership role, partnering with the OC Leadership Team in both strategic and operational areas, positively challenging and supporting Operations to deliver excellence across the entire UK Operations cost base with constant focus on improving Working Capital and cash requirements, creating an investment strategy to deliver the exciting growth ambitions.

In addition, the Finance Director will play a central role in driving and communicating the overall strategy for the OC, whilst ensuring robust control and governance processes are in place and all resources are allocated and invested appropriately to help achieve our ambition.

Responsibilities

WITH OUR CONSUMER AT THE HEART, YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
  • Strategic planning decisions support thought starter, influencing UK OC strategy in a competitive direction
  • Key player in Operation Strategic planning process: developing the 3 Year Plan with Operations stakeholders 
  • Ability to communicate clearly on the strategy but to then translate plans into specific budget and dynamic planning targets
  • Maximise the value of our aging inventory - drive the long-term Whisky plan to allow the business to manage growth at optimal cost, understand investments and Working Capital implications. 
  • Steer financial performance through accurate and transparent Dynamic Planning processes
  • Embed Zero Base budgeting across main OC spend categories to develop a clear culture of accountability and budget ownership
  • Lead the Capital Investment Strategy to deliver the exciting growth ambition, setting the OC up for success
  • Develop Lean practices and benchmarks in terms of financial processes with the other OCs or external operations in order to become Finance Operations “Best Practice Provider” to the Global Operations teams, collaborating with and leveraging the BES organisation 
  • Ensure robust financial controls and governance are in place and adhered to, with complete SOX adherence
  • Coach and develop team to become best in class, trusted value adding finance business partners, creating a passion for excellence with a winning attitude 
  • Drive sustained improvements in employee engagement and enablement, as measured through our employee engagement survey and GPTW
  • Work across functions and geographies to challenge, collaborate and find ways to drive the business forward to be the best it can be, utilising our resources effectively to unlock value
  • Develop innovative processes and tools to create demand through new product development activity, driving ownership and increasing Innovation P&L accuracy to unlock long term sustainable growth to deliver Best 10
  • Drive improvement in and commercialise the Long-Term Demand Plan to ensure that Brand teams, Global markets and Operations are aligned to commercial plan, whilst capturing the value potential from future sales and importantly, the investments required to deliver the future aspirations

Skills and Experience

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO CREATE YOUR LEGACY:
  • A professional accounting qualification with post qualification experience commensurate to the role
  • Leadership experience in an operational and/or commercial environment with a strong understanding of performance management 
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or FMCG is beneficial, but not essential
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial issues, solutions, and strategy to broad and varied audiences
  • Analytical and diligent in approach, with an attention to detail
  • Ability to manage a complex, varied, and demanding workload prioritising and delegating effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong digital skills to build on our foundations of SAP, MS Office and other industry specific technology
