About the role

Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Finance Director - ANZ, this role is part of a dynamic finance team based at the Bacardi-Martini Australia Head Office, located in Kent Street, Sydney. This role will offer a great variety and diversity in a financial accounting capacity, with core focus areas including:
  • Full ownership in ensuring the statutory financial and taxation compliance requirements for the business are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reporting to key Bacardi Global stakeholders and ensuring adherence to Bacardi Global financial reporting policies and processes.
  • Key contact and liaison with internal and external tax partners  and auditors.
  • Provide effective business partnering to promote strong corporate governance culture and drive tax compliance across the wider business.
About You

The candidate would possess well rounded technical experience on financial accounting, direct & indirect tax scheme, state levied tax, statutory accounts and annual report preparation, SOX control while being able to maintain positive relationship with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be:

Financial Accounting
  • Perform month end accounting procedures for Australia and New Zealand, including preparation of monthly journals, supporting workpapers and review on balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review monthly payroll journal processing and ensure accurate provision of employee benefits.
  • Produce insightful commentary for monthly and quarterly upstream reporting on key variances for global stakeholders.
  • Preparation and review of key month end KPIs on working capital and provide recommendation and action plan for future improvement.
  • Take ownership of fixed asset register and advise the wider business on CAPEX request.
  • Technical accounting guidance and ensuring compliance to accounting standards, including intimate understanding and working knowledge on IFRS15 and IFRS16.
Tax
  • Preparation and on time lodgement of multiple tax obligations for Australia and New Zealand including weekly excise returns, monthly BAS’s lodgement state payroll tax including annual reconciliation.
  • Partner with external stakeholders and take full ownership of the end-to-end process on preparation, review and lodgement on Corporate Income Tax Returns and FBT Return for Australia and New Zealand.
  • Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate the preparation and review of appropriate annual statutory margin, transfer pricing documentation and CBC local file lodgement
Statutory Financials and Audit
  • Lead the preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with prescribed accounting standards.
  • Lead the external audit engagement and ensure fulfilment of test requirements, including compilation and coordination of all audit work files and supporting documentation.
Governance
  • Leading and partnering key business stakeholders in championing a strong corporate governance culture in compliance of statutory requirements and company policies.
  • Lead the local implementation, testing and risk mitigation procedures for SOX controls inside and outside the finance team.
  • Identify capability gap and provide training sessions for the wider business on GST and FBT to drive accuracy in financial information processing.
Other
  • Lead the local risk management program on workers compensation and motor vehicle policies as well as assist with the renewal of global insurance policies.
  • Assist with month end reporting and the annual budget preparation for ANZ
  • Continuous improvement of systems, processes and controls across corporate financial, governance and statutory.
  • Completion of quarterly and annual ABS Surveys.
  • Other ad hoc requests by both internal and external stakeholders
  • Be a brand and customer advocate, so actively present in the on and off trade and supporting customers and venues.
Primos
  • Play an active role in the finance team by proactively sharing knowledge across the team and making a positive contribution.
Finance Initiatives – “Funding the Best 10”
  • Identify and lead strategic business value creation initiatives in collaboration with wider finance team.

Skills and Experience

The Skills & Experience needed to create your legacy
  • Relevant tertiary degree and CA/CPA qualification
  • 5+ years strong technical accounting experience including tax compliance and local and international accounting standards, preferably within an FMCG or Big 4 environment.
  • Local excise/customs and transfer pricing knowledge would be advantageous.
  • The ability to thrive in a challenging and team orientated work environment
  • Experience overseeing and reviewing core processes such as month end and statutory reporting.
  • Ability to own the corporate finance, secretarial and taxation requirements across the Cluster
  • Excellent time management skills to plan, lead and coordinate reporting timetables, and deliver on multiple work streams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrated flexibility to handle ad-hoc requests.
  • You are influential and excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced level of diligence and attention to detail
  • Experience working with SAP and BI desirable
  • Advanced Excel skills and system savvy
  • Motivated to develop skill set and advance within the business
