About the role

The Financial Planning & Performance manager role will provide the opportunity to step beyond the numbers and learn about how we make these fantastic products, that consumers enjoy, across the world, every day.  They will lead financial reporting &  planning, financial control, governance for the UK Operations Centre (UKOC) which covers the manufacture and supply of our Bombay Sapphire Gin & Scotch Whisky brands. 

As part of the UKOC Finance Management team, this senior role will drive improved financial control of
the UKOC, is responsible for leading various compliance processes, financial reporting consolidation
activity and is the key contact for the UKOC for the Global Business Service Centre, Auditors, Global
Finance, Tax and Treasury teams.

Successful applicants will require a passion for understanding financial processes and how they can relate to a large manufacturing business.  They will have the opportunity to affect business decisions by influencing management across many areas of the organisation.  The individual will need to have excellent analytical and organisational skills, but then be able to concisely and convincingly communicate their findings in order to influence business decisions.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES - WITH OUR CONSUMER AT THE HEART YOUR KEY FOCUS WILL BE

Financial Planning and Reporting

Lead the Financial accounting, reporting, and analysis for the UK Operations which covers the manufacture and supply of our Bombay Sapphire Gin & Scotch Whisky brands
Lead preparation, consolidation and reporting of financial forecasts
Lead the consolidation of the other areas of finance to produce the UK OC budget and monthly reporting pack
Preparation and analysis of the local consolidated monthly management reporting pack
Analyse monthly deviations against budget / forecast and propose corrective actions
Develop innovative processes to support financial governance and control, with diligence and measure

Capital Expenditure

Support the Operations management teams by analyzing and constructively challenging capital investment projects to ensure cash prioritization and robust capital allocation
Co-ordination of capex forecasts and budgets and active management of spend vs. target
Lead post investment appraisals, working closely with project teams to drive investment strategy
Lead physical asset verification activity (including cask assets)
Undertake impairment reviews, including infrequent travel to any/all of the UK operational sites to undertake these activities, working closely with local management and engineering teams
Chair Capital Committee meeting
Manage verification of assets under construction accounts and the capitalisation process
Identify and introduce improvements to data capture in SAP in relation to capital expenditure and the asset register to facilitate improved reporting

Business Partnering and Support
Business partner with the UKOC Support functions, challenging, collaborating and finding ways to drive the business forward to be the best it can be, utilizing our resources effectively to unlock value
Provide finance business partner support for HR, IT, Engineering (Capex), New Product Development (NPD) and Finance departments
Work closely with other members of the finance team to drive reporting improvements, targeting efficiency improvements at critical times, e.g. month end
Working closely with the Engineering management team, challenging on capital projects to ensure the best use of company funds, prioritizing within budget
Collaborate with Supply Chain and Spirit Supply teams to prepare analysis and insight to the inventory reports to facilitate the decision making process

Compliance & Accounting
Lead SOX testing and maintenance of related documentation (process maps/RACM’s etc.)
Collation of information required for both internal and external audit inquiries
Control of all UKOC Balance Sheet Accounts 
Drive improvement in financial governance by critically assessing local UK OC processes, e.g. travel policy, recruitment policy, invoice/purchase order approval levels and create and introduce the UK OC statement of delegated authorities

Transactional Activities
Co-ordination with Bacardi Enterprise Services (BES) on transfer of responsibilities, resolution of issues and improvement of KPIs
Work with BES to clear the transactional backlog and target root causes to avoid future build-ups

Other activities
Assist with management of global and local insurance policies, coordination of claims, including employers’ and public liability, product recall, theft, vehicle and travel claims
Provide analysis required for annual statutory accounts
Ad-hoc Global Project Support for value creation exercises

Skills and Experience

SKILLS - THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO CREATE YOUR LEGACY
A professional accounting qualification with post qualification experience commensurate to the role
Experience in manufacturing and/or FMCG is beneficial, but not essential
A high level of technical accounting competence is desirable, an audit background may be beneficial but not essential
Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial issues and solutions to nonfinancial colleagues
Strong systems skills and excel wizardry, with the ability to digest complexity and find innovative solutions
Some infrequent travel to other UK Operations sites, including distilleries, may be required
