About the role

The Foreign Trade and Customer Service Manager is responsible for providing best-in-class services, develops and manages strategic and tactical relationships with key customers and their respective account managers to help deliver the long-term Customer Engagement plan. Furthermore, it has a clear understanding of the business cost to serve dynamics and collaborate with other members of the supply chain and commercial teams to achieve the Supply Chain strategy. Additionally, supports, engages, and mentors the Import, Export and Customer Service coordinators across the region to ensure continuity of the processes and looking for continuous improvement on the general service. 

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Determine annual strategies to ensure continuous improvement on the supply logistics network for import, export and customer service operations across LAC. 
  • Develop and manage tactical and collaborative relationships with key customers, commercial and planning teams across Bacardi plants. 
  • Establish and develop supply chain and service level agreements for Distributors and internal clients.  
  • Develop strategies for the correct and on-time issuance of sanitary registrations for LAC Distributors,
  • Lead relations with governmental offices across region and Bacardi sites. 
  • Monitor order management processes making sure meet or exceed standards. 
  • Monitor performance with customers, distributors and commercial teams to ensure all inquiries and complaints are solved.
  • Manage communications for availability of products, innovations, constraints, production sourcing, repacks, labeling changes, etc. to customers, distributors and commercial teams across region. 
  • Lead continuous improvement projects for LAC ensuring the initiatives are aligned with Global policies and rules. 
  • Support Project Managers to design and develop an effective innovation process to reduce complexity in supply chain (SKU rationalization, sourcing locations, volume analysis).
  • Evaluate and decide on financial and business risks associated with foreign trade regulations.  
  • Ensure accomplishment of customs and sanitary legislations for MX market. 
  • Manage foreign trade cost for Tultitlan and Arandas plants. 
  • Monitor the correct administration of bonded warehouse and PECA program for Tultitlan plant. 
  • Manage and monitoring strip stamps availability for MX market and correct authority reporting. 
Organization and People
  • Build and execute programs focused on Customer Service and Foreign Trade.
  • Perform periodic evaluations to ensure the continuity of the processes, identify potential risk and take actions on them. 
  • Ensure team development and performance plans are in place and actively executed 
  • Support engage and mentor foreign trade and customer service executives.
  • Ensure that the team is engaged, disciplined in actions follow up and driving for accountability
  • Encourage the team to work together and to improve practices. 

Critical experiences for success

Minimum qualification required:
  • Studies completed in International Business Administration, International Relations. 
  • Able to manage multiple projects; able to determine project urgency in a meaningful and practical way also organizes and schedules people and tasks.
  • Ability to function in a multi-task work environment, multi-department team, and cross-regional teams. 
  • Strong analytical, reasoning abilities, problem resolution and decision-making skills with the ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Ability to work under continual deadline constraints.
  • Strong organization skills, time management, and multiple task management capabilities. 
  • Advanced English, excellent verbal, written communication and coordination skills. 

Functional Experience
  • Project Management (internal & External stakeholders): Team leader for complex internal or external projects with multiple parties involved. 
  • External orientation: Conducts negotiations regarding contract performance, service offers with external suppliers, system consultant management. 
  • Planning Process Understands the full operational flow and suggests improvements. e.g. S&OP, Inventory, Planning, etc.
  • Manufacturing/Operational Processes: Knows manufacturing principles, understands manufacturing constraints and opportunities (capacity, efficiency, flexibility). 
  • Market Understanding and CS skills: Has knowledge about customer processes and suggests internal improvements. 
  • International Trade: Understands the meaning of basic incoterms (CPT, CFR, FCA). Knows basic trading documents (CO, CA, BL, packing list). Knows local law principles across region of foreign trade and bonded warehouse rules. 
  • Logistics & Distribution Processes: Basic knowledge about transport planning (inbound / outbound) paperwork and warehousing. 
  • Product Innovation: Has experience in running projects to bring new products to the market, managing the activities of a variety of parties and BIT process.
  • Software (SAP, MS Office, BI, APO): Developed skills in at least one or two packages that enable added value for the role with solutions for efficiency or insight.
  • People management skills:  Operates collaboratively on the executive team, availability to influence across departments and various levels of leadership.

DIMENSIONS (SCOPE OF THE ROLE)
  • Manage a budget of 526k USD for foreign trade operations of two plants.
  • Foreign Trade Operations 2,200 maritime, air and ocean operations per year equal to 30 million usd. 
  • Number of projects per year, average between 4 and 7 
  • Average savings per year between 70 and 90k usd.
  • Provide service to 72 Customers in Mexico, 31 Distributors and internal warehouses in 19 countries across LA
