About the role

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

This role is accountable for the delivery of operational excellence across the distillery manufacturing processes for our world famous gin - Bombay Sapphire. Based on the site of Laverstoke Mill, a former paper mill with an intriguing history spanning over 1000 years, situated in the Hampshire countryside (UK) . The role requires the optimisation of resources to assure that the standards of gin products are delivered to Brand standards .The role will have accountability for site management in terms of statutory compliance, EHS and promote the Bacardi Fearless, Founders, Family culture. To deputise for the Master Distiller as and when required.



Responsibilities

WITH OUR CONSUMER AT THE HEART YOUR KEY FOCUS WILL BE

1. Operations Management

  • Deliver operational excellence across core performance indicators to ensure that liquid supply is aligned to demand requirements
  • Technical Leadership to assure safe working practices, quality and consistency of the distillery process
  • Champion continuous improvement and best practice across distillery operations
  • Accountable for the development and delivery of the operations plan to ensure that spirit supply is in line with customer demand
  • Deliver the budget
  • Oversee the logistics of inbound and outbound materials in line with the operations plan.
  • Ensure that the distilling operation and the site meets Bacardi EHS standards and local regulatory requirements
  • Accountable for the governance and reporting of KPI performance across the operation
  • Develop and deploy site maintenance plan, budget and services that will maintain the site to required Bacardi standards
  • Accountable for the management of all financial, operational, C&E, H.&S documentation for the distillery.
  • Deliver capex projects in line with site strategy

2. Technical Leadership
  • Accountable for the quality and consistency of the finished gin spirit throughout the distilling process. Delivers finished gin spirit quality in line with product standards.
  • Provide technical leadership for the design, installation and maintenance of all processes and equipment across the site
  • Accountable for site functionality and operations
  • Lead onboarding of innovation pipeline products

3. Process Excellence and Continuous Improvement
  • Lead continuous improvements, optimizing Global BOS and lean manufacturing process tools.
  • Collaborate with procurement in relation to assuring quality standards of ingredients and liquid quality
  • Collaborate with planning and bulk planning teams to ensure all demands are met and supply is secure

4 People
  • Build a proactive HSE and Continuous improvement environment aligned to Bacardi standards across the site
  • Build strong development programme for team to ensure appropriate skills and knowledge onsite
  • Lead continuous improvement of distillery operations/activities by considering current work practices and implementing alternatives where appropriate.
  • Lead the site in the 3Fs – Fearless, Founders, Family

Skills and Experience

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO CREATE YOUR LEGACY
  • Expert knowledge in gin production and distilling processes
  • Strong Operations Management skills with the ability to develop and deliver operational excellence across multiple processes
  • Effective collaborator and communicator with Bacardi support groups HR, Finance, IT
  • Ability to manage third party providers
  • Financially capable of developing /delivering operational budgets and capital expenditure plans
  • Same or comparable position in the Spirits industry
  • University Degree (Operations , Business Management or Science Engineering Based), HND or equivalent vocational experience
  • Distilling qualification not essential but preferred.
