About the role

In this role you have the opportunity to shape the way external audiences see Bacardi. You also have the ability to talk about the aspects that set Bacardi apart – culture, sustainability initiatives, commercial prowess, etc. You will develop and implement global strategic communication programs for traditional new age, and social media. You will also work with on thought leadership strategies that enhance the company’s reputation, help drive business objectives, and showcase Bacardi as an industry leader and innovator.  This role will report to the VP of Global Communications and be based in our corporate office in Miami, FL.  


• Manage relationship with communications and social media agencies as their day-to-day contact and strategic partner.
• Work closely with internal teams and PR agency partners to develop strategic storytelling that enhances the company’s position as an industry leader and great place to work.
• Cascade relevant stories and media assets to regional PR teams and keep them updated on global corporate assets.
• Develop message houses for key initiatives, stories, and spokespeople.
• Lead website design updates, copy editing, page creation, and overall site maintenance.
• Lead media monitoring, coverage and SOV tracking, distribution of relevant industry and company news coverage; and generation of internal reports and activities, as needed.
• Set objectives and measurement KPIs; with expertise on how to measure PR, social content, and website effectiveness
• Participate in strategic PR planning sessions with senior leaders to provide counsel on communications effectiveness, media training, and setting PR goals for individuals, projects, or business priorities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop creative and timely pitch angles for the media.
• Craft social media strategy focused on visual and video storytelling to showcase #BacardiLife and Bacardi as an innovative and compassionate industry leader, and a great place to work.
• Work closely with social media agency to develop new, original content on a regular basis and cultivate community conversations across core channels.
• Ensure BL BVI and tone of voice on content for consistency across social media channels.
• Partner with Internal Communications to co-create campaigns that promote social sharing via ONE Bacardi.
• Monitor trends (best practices, tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy) to continually recommend optimization and improvements.
• Support crisis communications, M&A and other global initiatives as needed.

Skills and Experience

• University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Communications, preferably at a corporation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; proven skills as copy editor
• Expertise in social media channels, best practices to drive engagement and trending content and apps
• Experience with media relations. Established industry media contacts a plus
• Experience managing project budgets and agency relationships
• Ability to translate content into a story for use across mediums
• Industry experience helpful
• Strong organization and time-management skills
• Objective and measurement setting; with expertise on how to measure PR, social content, and website effectiveness
• Strong visual design flair
• Fluent in MS Word, Power Point, Excel
• Proficient in Adobe PhotoShop. Other graphic design and publishing software knowledge a plus
• HTML coding desired, but not required
• Fluent in English and Spanish. Additional languages a plus
