About the role

Your Opportunity

Your role as HR Manager – SUBSA  will be to build culture with a focus on developing talent & strengthening capability by leading the HR Operations vision for SUBSA. 

You will be part of SUBSA LT and lead end to end local recruitment, talent management and C&B related HR operations processes for the cluster with a focus on establishing HR practices for Bacardi South Africa. You will drive the global and regional HR initiatives by partnering with commercial leaders in SUBSA. You will ensure that all key HR processes are implemented thoroughly, and all the statutory regulations are in place. 

A clear outcome of your leadership should be higher engagement scores and we should continue to be a recognised as Employer of Choice with Top Employers & GPTW certifications.

This role is based in Johannesburg and will require to travel across our key markets to build and develop our culture, talent and connections in SUBSA.

About You 

You will be passionate about building culture with a deep understanding of HR best practices. You will  be a strong business partner with an ability to develop a strategic relationship with business leaders and  connecting with your employees will be key to your success in this role. Your empathy towards people challenges, understanding business nuances will help you to navigate effectively in the role.


With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:

Drive results & excellence in execution 
  • Establish robust processes for HR operations in SUBSA markets with a focus on BSA
  • Be an active participant in SUBSA and market local leadership teams
  • Lead the People Priority for the SUBSA market with a special focus on developing & driving the vision for Bacardi South Africa
  • You will lead the recruitment and responsible for compensation & benefits  and payroll requirements accordingly.
  • Help drive high employee engagement scores
  • You will be responsible to budget making for people cost and establishing processes  to ensure optimization
  • Ensure all the statutory requirements are in place
  • Ensure excellence in execution of key people & culture initiatives
  • Develop a robust HR analytics framework to help the business in key people decisions
Develop talent and capability 
  • Implement learning  and development plans for your team
  • Train and coach your team
  • Be the ‘talent broker “ for your business vertical
  • Input into decisions related to key talents for your business vertical
Create a winning team
  • Work with colleagues and team members to build a shared sense of purpose

Skills and Experience

The Skills & Experience needed to create your legacy
  • Minimum 10 years experience as HR generalist with good exposure in all key functional topics – HR business partnering, C&B , Talent management and Recruitment
  • Experienced in handling HR operations; personnel budget planning, execution of HR rewards processes, leveraging C&B philosophy in attracting and retaining best talents
  • Proven track record of HR business partnering
  • Managing all processes to ensure that the company is complaint to all necessary statutory regulatory frameworks
  • Establish HR analytics framework to ensure future ready HR strategy
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage/work with various stakeholders
  • Exposure in Talent management strategies
The following experiences are preferred:
  • HR operation experience
  • Strong experience in HR business partnering roles 
  • Experience within one or more companies that have an established reputation for best-in-class Human Resources and Talent Management practices 
  • Experience in handling large scale organization change processes
  • Employer branding, leveraging social media to attract best talent
  • Experience in handling HR statutory regulation related topics
  • Superior analytical skills, able to take complex ideas and summaries into concise insights and recommendations
  • Able to link financial analysis with business strategy and then make compelling business recommendations
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills; work across the organization with key stakeholders including senior management in order to influence and inform decision making
  • Self-starter that thrives in a dynamic environment with frequently changing priorities
  • Highly organized, motivated, a sense of urgency. Skilled at organizing and prioritizing multiple projects and resource constraints to optimize results, dealing with multiple stakeholders in a complex and agile environment
  • Track record of driving change, delivering process simplification and improved ways of working.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership, proactive problem-solving skills
  • Process focused with an understanding of end to end business processes and their financial impacts
