About the role


The purpose of the role is to supervise a team of bulk operators and ensure the efficient and safe running of Warehousing, Control Room , Blend Centre and Wood Management operations (including associated equipment), in order to meet the site production plan. The role of Key Operator also entails maintenance of quality, EHS and HMRC obligations, and site recording systems.


  • Understand and adhere to delivery schedules for warehousing and Blend Centre programme.
  • Responsible for organising workload of Bulk Operators, based on the Bulk Filling, Disgorging and Warehouse programmes as supplied by the Bulk Planners. 
  • Ensure that facilities comply with Customs & Excise requirements and legislation. 
  • Ensure that EHS requirements are being adhered to and report and investigate any near misses and incidents 
  • Responsible for the effective data capture and operation of the DRAMs, Flowlog, PCS7, EMCS and Data Supply Systems. Also  responsible for the capture of data on designated excel spreadsheets. 
  • Accurate recording of site KPIs – Filling & Disgorging quantities, downtime, tracking of special casks use. 
  • Timely delivery of spirit to internal and external customers, correctly accounting for all spirit holdings and movements. 
  • Responsible for provision of customer casks upon request. 
  •  Also responsible for overseeing wood management activities. 
  •  As a Key holder for the site, you will be responsible for ensuring all warehouses and blend centre are properly secured. 
  •  Responsible for the safe and secure use of all plant machinery (inclusive of FLTs). 
  •  Maintain complete flexibility of operations across the Bulk Supply operations. 
  •  Actively participate and promote the continuous improvement of the site and activities, suggesting alterations as appropriate. 
  •  Actively participate in Company Training and Development Initiatives and Communication Briefings as appropriate. 
  •  Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behaviour. 
  •  Maintain behaviour in compliance with HSE requirements. 
  •  Carryout and supervise receipt and dispatch of bulk whisky. Also, the ability to receipt and dispatch TLVs of  casks of whisky. 
  •  Issue permits as required. 
  •  Carry out training of others as required. 
  •  Ensure that proper housekeeping standards and cleaning of work environment is adhered to. 
  •  36 hours over 5 days (day shift) with possibility of additional week-end work when required.
  •  Will provide cover for other key operators as required. 
  •  Any other activities relevant to site operations. 
  • Attend daily DDS meeting and input data from these meetings also attend any other meeting when required 
  • Complete any relevant shift lead tasks in their absence as and when required 

Skills and Experience

  • Previous FLT (counterbalance) experience (desirable)
  • Relevant IT systems experience (Microsoft Office, DRAMS, EMCS, Flowlog, PCS7)
  • Supervisory experience within a FMCG environment (desirable)
  • Ideally experience of working in spirit processing 
  • Knowledge of production planning systems
  • Prior experience of EHS systems in relation to flammable liquids (desirable)
