About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure supply of materials and services to meet business needs
- Ensure continuity of supply by maintaining effective relationships with existing sources and by developing other sources of supply either as alternatives or to meet emerging or planned needs
- Buy efficiently and wisely, obtaining by ethical means the best value for the business
- Develops and owns the procurement budget and plan for the region
- Provide input and feedback to the Global Category Managers on global sourcing strategies across raw materials, packaging, logistics, marketing, Capex, external manufacturing, etc.
- Define sourcing strategies to meet region specific needs in collaboration and alignment with relevant category lead (leverage and increase global spend coverage where appropriate)
- Maintain “activity and RACI map” to establish clear roles and responsibilities between Region and Global Category leads avoiding duplication and ensuring compliance
- Communicate and deploy global and regional sourcing strategies in your Region / Market
- Negotiate effectively in order to work with suppliers who will seek mutual benefit through superior performance providing preferred customer status
- Own contract management, drive governance and compliance jointly with finance and legal
- Assure locally sustainable supply solutions including contingency, responsible sourcing and supplier performance management (supplier reviews, KPIs, adherence to contract, PTP process efficiencies, Sedex, etc.)
- Ensure wholistic approach in measuring value covering service, cost, Environment Social Governance (ESG), working capital, cost of capital, benchmarks, total cost of ownership, etc. parameters in decision making process
- Drive continuous improvement through value creation / value enabler initiatives and broader organisation engagement
- Ensure procurement activities are monitored & focused behind the biggest impact areas allowing to achieve and exceed set targets across cost, service, working capital, ESG, etc. as defined in procurement strategy and annual objectives
- Leverage partnerships, digital procurement, Bacardi Enterprise Services (BES), IT systems, lean manufacturing, etc.
- Develop strong expertise and knowledge of other functions and their commercial matters to enable procurement strategy to be fully integrated with the region’s strategy
- Regularly re-examine purchasing structure as part of strategic review
- Monitor supply market trends, conduct cross regional comparisons to identify risks & opportunities and leading practices
- Collaborate across procurement teams implementing sourcing and supply improvements that are broadly re-applicable
- Encourage team to apply multi-echelon supply chain concepts driving collaboration and understanding the impact on one another
- Maintain sound cooperative relationships with other departments/functions, providing information and advice as necessary to ensure effective operation of the organisation as a whole
- Liaise with the region management to provide visibility on strategies, activities and results making sure the procurement vision fits and augments the overall business vision and strategic plans
- Understand and anticipate region needs to prioritize initiatives, adopt strategies and engage broader procurement team as required
- Champion innovation and effective development of new products aligned with resource allocation priorities
- Leading role in developing and achieving region’s ESG targets through best practices and supplier engagement
- Single point of contact for the region leadership to effectively leverage procurement expertise in supporting the business
- Represent procurement on the regional presidents extended management team(s)
- Help region to understand the cost impacts and drivers irrespective of supply or service origin
- Engage in the region’s IAP process and ensure procurement strategies are considered to deliver a competitive advantage for Bacardi
- Provide performance KPIs measuring procurement contributions to the region’s success
- You will lead a procurement team of approximately 10 people
- Develop and inspire regional procurement team providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring for high performance team delivering outstanding organisational impact and results with strong internal customer service focus
- Ensure implementation of learning and development plans and sustained learning for everyone in your team
- Ensure that teams have the resources and assets needed to deliver desired results
- Ensure integration with other functions and procurement team members on common goals and joint initiatives
- Liaise with senior management across the business to get buy-in and provide visibility on strategies, activities & results
- Develop an environment that drives continuous improvement, seeking input from both internal and external sources to undertake a complete review of the sourcing plans and strategies on a periodic basis to ensure that it continues to meet the current and future needs of the business
Skills and Experience
- Degree in Business / Finance / Economics or Engineering (specialization in purchasing is an asset) or equivalent
- Specialization in purchasing and/or procurement qualification is an advantage – CIPS
- Min. 10 years’ experience in a procurement role working across multiple geographies in matrix structure environment
- Relevant experience managing Direct and Indirect categories in emerging market environment
- People management and organisation development skills
- Solid understanding of procurement function and category management (including industry analysis skills)
- Proficiency with core Procurement skills – Strategic Procurement, Supplier Management and Performance, Supply Market Analysis, Cost Modelling, Category Management, Digital Procurement, Sustainable Procurement 2.0, ESG
- Proven negotiation and relationship management skills
- Strong business acumen, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required
- Able to manage in a matrix environment and to effectively engage with stakeholders of same and other functions
- Proven track record in developing and gaining alignment to complex procurement strategies
- Influencing skills / Directing Others - ability to influence and understand differing needs of stakeholders
- Good presentation and communication skills
- Organization change management experience
- Advanced MS Office Skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Digital Procurement tools (Scanmarket, Keelvar, Comas, etc.)
- ERP - SAP & BI (not mandatory)
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Local regional language skills are a plus
