About the role

Your Opportunity

The Lead Distillery Operator’s primary duties are to provide strong leadership for the Distillery Team. 


With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:
  • Control of Distillery Raw Materials including Inventory, Ordering, Receiving, Quality Analysis, and Vendor reporting for Grains, Yeast, Process Aids, and other materials
  • Lead new operator on-boarding training to ensure continuity between operations on all shifts
  • Assisting Planning and Scheduling production orders and staffing requirements based on annual, monthly, and weekly demands from the Distillery Production Manager and Distillery Supervisor
  • Execute Liquid Innovation development plans for new production
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of Distillery operations and activities, suggesting and executing alterations as appropriate
  • Communicate clearly on problems or solutions to Management
  • Identify maintenance requirements and potential plant failure and effectively communicate to Management 
  • Actively participate in Company Training, Development Initiatives and Communications Briefings as appropriate
  • Ensure that all tasks, activities and responsibilities are undertaken within the Company Health and Safety and Environmental Procedures
  • Performing all distillery functions, sanitation, housekeeping and recordkeeping in the following areas:
    • Grain Handling, Mashing, Fermentation, Distillation, Spirits Gauging, Distillation By-Products
    • Basic Utilities Operations 
    • PLC/HMI operations

Skills and Experience

The Skills & Experience needed to create your legacy
  • 7Minimum High School diploma. Associates degree preferred.
  • 1 or more years Distillery Operations experience 
  • 10-hour OSHA Certificate 
  • Ability to work autonomously to provide reports / presentations to Management.
  • Ability to lead and direct other Distillery Operators and multi-task.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. and perform repetitive work actions.
  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments and outdoors as needed.
  • Ability to follow directions, perform simple math calculations and complete recordkeeping as needed. 
  • Ability to drive Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis, and Continuous Improvement activities. 
  • Strong commitment to dependability and timeliness
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as a team member or independently.
  • Ability to work weekends and evening as required
  • Moderate mechanical skills
  • Moderate computer and computer software skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basic knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems
  • Trained and certified in Lock-out Tag-out
