About the role
Responsibilities
- Actively promote and live the Bacardi Safety Culture.
- Participate in Line Daily Direction Setting (DDS) meetings and execution of the daily plan, including reporting the previous 24 hour results.
- Owning the MP&S in-process measures and Scorecard for your areas of responsibility.
- Actively plan and coach your team to reduce UPDT through breakdown reduction, insights from completed PMs/CMs and maintenance logs.
- Coach and mentor direct reports, providing developmental support to grow their performance and potential.
- Conduct routine performance appraisals as directed through the site HR programme. Foster continuous development through coaching and mentoring to strengthen team capability to deliver competitive advantage.
- Owns Maintenance Planning and Scheduling (MP&S), DMS for the line(s). Review and prioritize notifications within 24 hours of generation
- Provide updates during DDS on any PM’s being conducted next 24 hours and propose PM tasks to be completed during Planned Stop as appropriate.
- The work order backlog is current, sorted for reporting and is managed to best meet the business needs
- Ensure the revision and updating of “Maintenance Technical Documentation”.
- Develop and execute the Manufacturing Maintenance Preventative program for your area, aligned with the Maintenance Strategy to achieve best in class equipment performance & reliability.
- Provide coaching and leadership to the technicians reporting to you.
- Lead and Translate the scheduling of preventative and corrective/improvement priorities into daily, weekly & monthly plans as dictated by the annual maintenance plan and previously identified work. Coordinate the Maintenance Technicians in executing those plans on time.
- Develop the technical skills and capabilities of the Technicians & Production Teams, through coaching and development in line with the current and future requirements of the Operations.
- Ensure that Manufacturing Maintenance practices, procedures and systems comply with Bacardi and local legislative QEHS.
- Own and lead minor CAPEX projects for your line. Liaise with relevant departments and OEMs.
- Support development and lead engineering areas of Line 90 Day loss-elimination plans.
- Own the Breakdown Elimination DMS.
- Drive breakthrough results in Planned and Unplanned downtime by analysing CM data from the CMMS
- Analyse BDs and PFs that meet a trigger and use the correct tool-set to get to the Root Cause. Create actions to prevent a recurrence.
- Analyse UPDT to identify trends and develop work plans to eliminate.
- Support the Health Check process for Breakdowns and deploy with your team.
- Ensure PMs are fit for purpose and identify best fit PM strategy for each machine on your line.
- Identify and close PM gaps and ensure that robust systems are in-place.
- Carry out MP&S Health Checks to ensure that PMs are being carried out effectively and that a follow-up up is carried out after BD/major failure.
- Coach technicians and Operators on how to effectively carry out PMs.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 3-years leadership experience in a maintenance & engineering team - preferably in an FMCG environment.
- Achieves technical mastery of equipment and develops it in others. Overall strong technical skills.
- Excellent understanding of mechanical/electrical processes, both hands on and theory.
- Time-Served recognized apprenticeship
- Minimum HNC or equivalent along with relevant experience
- Siemens PLC’s/Allen-Bradley PLC’s, control net and device net or profibus and profinet. Able to interface with PLC using programming software and make program changes.
- Capable of working to a formal electrical change control process.
- PLC faultfinding/maintenance and I/O faultfinding.
- Experience/knowledge of line control/regulation. Understands the concept of line philosophy.
- Experienced in electronic VSD’s and Servo drive and control systems.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of general 3ph motor control circuits and fault diagnosis.
- Knowledge of electrical sensors, switchgear and their applications.
- Experience of instrumentation and PID loops.
- Competent in general electrical maintenance.
- Experience of ink jet coding and in-line inspection systems such as Mapex, Heuft, Checkmat etc.
- Sound mechanical fitting techniques and skills.
- Excellent understanding of pneumatic circuits, applications, technical drawings and faultfinding.
- Working with and diagnosing faults with Mechanical Drive systems including; v-belts/pulley drives, chain drives, conveyor belts, gear boxes/gear sets, bearing damage and shaft wear.
- Pumps/pump sets, packing and mechanical seals.
- Understanding of control valve philosophy and valve repair.
- Competent use of machine tools – Turning, milling and Welding.
- Effective communication skills across all levels of the business.
