About the role

Material Planner is responsible for the end to end planning of  material supply for nominated suppliers, working closely with internal and external parties to ensure materials are in place to satisfy production requirements with minimum stock levels, whilst optimizing costs.  This role will also play a key role in managing medium and long term requirments for supply of materials to Bacardi UK OC, building and maintianing a strong supplier relationship and working closely with procurment team and quality in mitigating any containts factors related to availability.

  • Responsible for the planning and scheduling of materials from suppliers to meet production requirements 
  • Key contact for material suppliers in terms of managing deliveries, sharing forecast (mid-long term)  and supplier performance 
  • Understand market fluctuations in demand to share with suppliers to mitigate any risks to supply/overstock 
  • Take ownership of  any planning issues that arise due to material supply and follow up actions especially in the event of material shortages that affect internal production.
  • Proactively look for new ways of working within material planning with a continuous improvement attitude to working practices.
  • Responsible for data maintenance in relation to planning for materials
  • Build and maintain  working relationship with Material Controllers and Warehousing team to optimize material delivery schedules into site efficiently utilizing available resources
  • Attend and participate in  supplier review meetings on a monthly/ quarterly basis with full participation in SBR meetings  providing information on supply and supplier performance
  • Resposible for minimizing material risks in terms of excess, aged and obsolescence
  • Maintain proactive shortage identification and management - help flag root causes & corrective actions
  • Coordinate with production planners for solutions when materials cannot be delivered as promised
  • Maintain and continuously evaluate supplier performance and escalate to Procurement when issues occur
  • Adhere to and develop Service level agreements with respective suppliers, drive suppliers to meet the required performance and look at optimizing ways of working with entire supply base
  • Ensure resolution of invoicing discrepancies with suppliers and GBS team
  • Holiday cover for Co-pack Planner
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behaviour
  • Maintain behaviour in compliance with HSE requirements
  • Report any unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions to their immediate Supervisor such that remedial action can be taken to manage the risk
  • Ensure effective team work internally and externally to drive communications at the right time for accurate decision making and task identification.

Skills and Experience

  • 5 years + Extensive Supply Chain in material supply based role 
  • Processes capacity to manage and co-ordinate multiple tasks, projects and priorities. 
  • Project Management knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of JIT/SMI/MOQ/ERP and supply chain latest trends.
  • 3 years expert SAP Knowledge particularly purchasing modules and MRP.
  • Working knowledge of production planning techniques and challenges in FMCG environment.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Good knowledge of Bacardi System desirable/Product Life Cycle Management. 
  • Excellent analytical/data skills to determine course of actions required to match supply and demand. 
  • Strong analytical skills to assess risk in supply base and infeed. 
  • Highly competent in Exel  (advanced), macros, pivot tables, look-ups etc.
