About the role

Your Opportunity

The Maturation and Blending Manager is responsible for the Poniel site and is a critical role within the UK Spirit Supply team. 

He/she will ensure that safety, quality, compliance, efficiency, business continuity, and primo development are delivered to all Bacardi standards, including COMAH and HMRC requirements. 

The 200-acre Poniel site receipts the majority of the UK Supply NMS and holds approx 1.3M maturing casks of spirit. 

The team delivers high-volume whisky blends such as William Lawson’s Finest Blend and Dewar’s White Label through Warehousing, Vatting and a state-of-the-art Blend Centre where blends are disgorged and then filled in series. 

The Poniel site is ever expanding with CAPEX investments on new warehouses approx every 18 months so the Maturation and Blending Manager is key to justifying the CAPEX requests and leading expansion projects.

This role currently has 4 direct reports and leads  around 50 Primos on the site.


With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:
  • Promote and cascade the philosophy of Safety-First ensuring conformance to Company Vision and Values
  • Compliance in meeting all HMRC requirements
  • Develop Primos through Let’s Talk Performance Reviews and development plans
  • Continually drive continuous improvement for the site, including LEAN operations
  • Maintain group quality standards – ensuring production of the highest quality New Make Spirit (NMS) whisky
  • KPI’s - Performance
    • Timely delivery of spirit to internal and external customers, correctly accounting for all spirit holdings and movements. 
    • Deliver filling and disgorging line performance to execute the weekly and annual plans.
    • Control all empty wood stocks on site and ensure the spirit plan is executed to the correct wood types.
    • Effectively plan and operationally utilise all cask warehousing.
    • Deliver warehousing receipt and removal performance to meet the requirements of the weekly and annual plans. Collaborate with Spirit Supply Planning and Inventory Planning to ensure that the cask and Spirit Supply plans are fully aligned to and supporting the execution of the bottling line and export requirements. 
  • Achieve the quality and consistency of all Blend Centre and Warehousing Processes.
  • Partner with Engineering department and Spirit Supply planners to deliver maintenance of all Bacardi assets. 
  • Manage project plans that will deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Establish and manage the site operating budgets and capital budgets.
  • Open to travel between UK Supply sites as per business need

Educational Requirements
  • Degree or relevant experience and willing to undertake further education, (Operations, Business Management or Science Engineering Based).
  • FMCG background (Operations and Supply Chain role at Managerial Level 5+ years)
    • Spirits, Drinks, Chemicals, Water, or Warehousing sectors preferred
  • Proven record of driving Continuous Improvement projects
    • LEAN experience preferred
  • Proven experience in leading change programmes
  • Experience working with ERP systems; Competency in DRAMS, SAP and EMCS are advantageous.
  • Experience leading large teams
