About the role

Spirit Supply is responsible for preparing and providing the Bulk liquid requirements to the Bacardi UK OC (Operations Centre), including Malt distilling, Aging/Warehousing and final blending/preparation. These operations are complex and require expertise to be executed in the most efficient/effective way, using Bacardi best practices such as Lean Manufacturing and Zero Based Budgeting.

As the Operations Development Manager, Bulk, you will look to continuously improve the aging/warehousing and blending/preparation operations by working directly with the site managers and their teams to implement BOS (Bacardi Operating System) Lean manufacturing agenda, executing the UKOC BOS plan, coaching Bulk leaders, following up with the teams and benchmarking with other Spirit Supply operations around the Bacardi global network. You will partner with the Operations Development Manager, UKOC, to ensure alignment with UKOC Bacardi BOS agenda and strategy.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and solid experience of operations, Lean Manufacturing programs (TPM, WCM, 6 Sigma, etc.) and project management skills. You will have the ability to communicate at different levels of the organization. The ability to be people-oriented, display leadership and influence operational teams is essential.

You will be enthusiastic and proactive, actively contributing to the success of the team by carefully planning to the needs of the business, while remaining flexible and adaptive, being able to have a multi-site approach across Westhorn Bulk and Poniel. Frequent travel to these sites is required.


Lead the implementation of BOS (Bacardi Operating System – Lean Manufacturing standard) masterplan across Spirit Supply Bulk Operations (Westthorn and Poniel sites)
Implement BOS based on the UKOC BOS strategy and Spirit Supply Vision & Strategy.
Liaise with UKOC Operations Development manager on BOS implementation standards
Implement bulk Lean manufacturing best practices by benchmarking internally (other Bacardi sites) and externally. Share and reapply
Provide analytical technical support and solutions to the bulk processes, equipment and people to improve overall productivity, efficiency/reliability and reduce losses.
Lead and coordinate bulk losses analysis through adequate techniques (ZBB, losses analysis, VSM, etc) and set up improved reporting tools and standards suitable for continuous performance tracking and analysis.
Highlight main areas of opportunities and quantify cost savings related with support from Finance.
Qualify and coach the Spirit Supply bulk team to perform root cause analysis through PST method and process observations; Facilitate the implementation of improvement actions with the local teams.
Participate in JDSL communication briefings/meetings and help with development issues and other initiatives where appropriate.
Lead SS Bulk Process leaders team
Coordinate and coach the teams to implement BOS tools, aligned with OC BOS strategy and UKOC Ops Dev Manager (Losses analysis, VSM, 5S, SMED, BPST, etc).
Facilitate or assist the implementation of the training courses and tracking of the expertise build up.

Skills and Experience


· Experience in BOS or Lean Manufacturing implementation, ideally in advanced implementation or mature phase (3+ years of experience)

Functional skills:
· Ability to balance and prioritise workloads
· Ability to work closely with others within the team, but also other internal functions (Finance, Customs Compliance, Production team, etc.)
· Basic understanding of mechanical equipment and control systems
· Highly competent in Microsoft Office applications and IT systems in general
· KPI sharing, analysis and tracking experience
· Ability and commitment to drive change in the organization
· Presentation Skills
· Good data collection, problem solving and analytical abilities
· Project management knowledge
· Excellent numeric and analytical skills
