About the role

As a Processing Operator, you will perform all necessary processing  activities to ensure we meet our customer's needs in a timely and efficient manner.  This will be achieved through receiving bulk liquids; batching, filtering, and adjusting products; supplying liquids to the production hall; operating reverse osmosis units to produce demineralized water; and sending out waste effluent discharge.  Safety is our top priority, all operators are expected to work in a safe manner and look out for one another.  You will also be responsible for following GMPs, maintaining a clean work area, be active in our 5S program, and have the opportunity to learn and work on continuous improvement within the processing department.

Responsibilities

  • Connect hoses to incoming tankers to unload bulk rum and rum ingredients.
  • Operate equipment to transfer, filter, sample, and batch product and product ingredients in preparation for transfer to bottling operations. 
  • Responsible for utilizing necessary equipment and practices and complying with Confined Space Entry training when performing duties in tanks, pits, towers, etc. 
  • Must possess the physical capabilities to enter and exit a 15” x 20” oval manhole opening.  
  • Ability to work and communicate with outside contractors both inside and outside the facility in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to include cleaning of processing equipment and supplies. Also perform inspections on processing equipment for all products. 
  • Responsible for maintaining quality product standards as established by Bacardi Bottling Corporation, and all products produced under the trademark.
  • Comply with all established safety rules and regulations.
  • Operate reverse osmosis (RO) water demineralization units.
  • Adjust products to specifications, including calculating adjustments required based on product analysis
  • Perform Clean in Place (CIP) sanitation.
  • Ensure constant product supply to bottling plant.
  • Ensure compliance with Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP), International Standardization Organization (ISO) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Chemical Hygiene, as implemented.
  • Must be able to safely handle corrosive chemicals.  
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights.
  • Must be able to work any shift and/or overtime as required
  • Actively participates with development and compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Actively participates and is engaged in safety initiatives, problem solving, Lean, Self-Directed Teams, continuous improvement and line efficiencies.
  • Perform functions associated with changeovers and autonomous maintenance on equipment
  • Perform housekeeping activities as required
  • Ensure all safety procedures and standard operating procedures (SOP) are accurately followed and documented
  • Other activites to support the processing department

Skills and Experience

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Work Aids:
Personal computer, office equipment, gauges, processing department equipment and supplies, forklift.

Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor, non temperature controlled environment and in a production facility where dust, fumes, heat, cold, noise, vibration, toxic conditions and other hazards exist.

Minimum Education:                                            
  • High School or Equivalent 
  • Vocational/Specialized training or degree in related field desired
Minimum Experience:
  • 2-3 years beverage processing preferred.
  • forklift operating experience desired.
Mechanical Skills:
Preferred experience in a food grade plant with safety, quality improvement, and hazardous materials handling.  Basic mechanical understanding & operation.

Necessary Skills:
  • Possess and apply strong ability to add, subtract, and convert fractions and decimals, and make percentage calculations
  • Possess and apply ability to convert English to Metric measures and vice versa
  • Strong understanding of weights, measures and gauges (density, gallons, pounds, grams etc.)
  • Good understanding of reading/using a tape measure
  • Excellent communication, documentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to work within confined spaces and enter and exit through a 15” x 20” oval manhole opening
  • Ability to wear and use breathing apparatus as required
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with various levels of management, employees and contractors
  • Must be detailed oriented with ability to multi-task
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and have ability to work independently

Protective Clothing:
All protective equipment required by company policy and/or State law.  Uniforms will be provided to meet environmental conditions and a footwear stipend is provided annually.
