About the role

What does a Processing Supervisor do?
  • Is responsible for all phases of product preparation which includes:?Receiving of Bulk spirit , product batching, product filtration, and product supply to the bottling hall.  
  • Is responsible for supervising a shift of 3 operators and two shift leads (2nd & 3rd shifts) with their respective operators. 
  • Effectively manages, trains, develops, and evaluates department staff. 
  • Ensures a clean and safe working environment within and around the Processing Department


  • Ensure operators and leads are follow safety and GMP protocols 
  • Planning & prioritization of shift resources to meet schedule requirements in a fair and equitable manner
  • Calculating and making critical decisions about product adjustments based on available information, while ensuring product quality standards are met
  • Drive continuous improvement throughout the department, be a learner in the Kata system and use it to improve processes assigned to you
  • Document all employee reports and ensure timely/accurate preparation and completion of all necessary paperwork including accident reports and timecards
  • Writing and maintaining SOP's, Work Instructions, Form Control Documents, and Standard Works to comply with ISO standards
  • Monitor and communicate department Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), drive to meet KPI goals
  • Communicate effectively both inside and outside of the department
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback and improvement opportunities on a continual basis, perform mid and end of year reviews for each direct report
  • Tanker receiving - monitor tankers to be received and work with Processing Coordinator and delivery company for completion
  • Water production - monitor Reverse Osmosis performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Effluent discharge - ensure releases are within specification and recorded properly
  • Schedule for vacation, overtime, & weekend work
  • Responsible for all phases of processing in product preparation (bulk receiving, batching, filtration, product supply, liquid recovery)
  • Understand equipment functionality & principles to problem solve and incorporate new liquids
  • Record near misses in department log & initiate solutions
  • Other special assignments related to improving the processing department
  • Ensure Process Safety Management processes followed
  • Be the Process Owner for the department utilizing Lean Accelerator/Startup, which includes the following:
  • Develop 24 hours actions plans, setting priorities for the process  team and allocate resources to support the plan
  • Owns the CIL & Defect Handling DMS’s 
  • Coaches teams on DMS execution and loss elimination
  • Lead the DDS meetings
  • Leads problem solving efforts on key chronic losses for processing activities 
  • Building the capability of the line teams, enabling self-sufficient teams. Support Self Directed Teams initiatives
  • Provide leadership and guidance to effectively ensure sanitation and housekeeping standard are met and maintained. Assure all work areas are clean and orderly in compliance with 5S initiatives

Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • 2-3 years spirit processing and supervising 
  • Good organizational, communication  & problem-solving skills
  • Mathematical and critical thinking 
Personal Qualities
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to  motivate others 
  • Lives the 3 F’s – Fearless, Founder’s Mentality, Family
  • Personal computer, data processing software, gauges, processing equipment, office 
  • Food grade plant experience, safety, quality improvement, hazardous materials handling
  • Lean Six Sigma qualification preferred
