About the role

WHAT DOES A PROJECT ENGINEER DO?
The project engineer owns, drives and ensures successful execution of Engineering Projects to meet key business objectives from ideation to start-up.

The project engineer has the opportunity to drive projects throughout the site, covering processing, bottling, warehouse, automation, capacity increase, energy, regulatory, quality, safety and others.

The project engineer ensures high level of collaboration and engagement from the cross-functional teams from day 1 of the project to ensure maximum value for the project at the lowest cost.

The project engineer is an organized, structured and collaborative leader. Flexible and curious to learn new areas, the project engineer has strong project management skills.

Technical knowledge and skills are a critical success factor, but the ability to influence and keep the project team focused on delivering milestones will be key.

Expertise in bottling and processing operations is critical to success.

Responsibilities


  • Lead Capital Projects through Ideation, Concept Design, Preliminary Design, Procurement & Fabrication, Construction & installation, and Start-up & Closeout. 
  • Collaborate with and drive cross functional team and business stakeholders to manage project scope, timeline, and budget.  Ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Coordinates with cross functional team members to create test plans, start-up plans, and success criteria.
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross functional colleagues on best practice application developing a culture of high performance and process optimization.
  • Interface with vendors and contractors ensuring specifications and requirements are incorporated from preliminary design through execution of projects.
  • Create, set specifications, develop, implement, and perform risk assessments of manufacturing equipment and process standards that drive continuous improvement.
  • Communicates plans and other agreements to stakeholders for alignment while listening to feedback and making modifications if appropriate.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable Safety, Quality and regulatory considerations and Bacardi’s SQS Codes of Practice. 
  • Develop and implement construction safety plans.
  • Challenge the status quo and bring external best practices and technology to the site

Skills and Experience


  • Knowledge and application of engineering standards and good practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in control and automation projects.
  • Understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, construction, commissioning, and Start-up. 
  • Ability to lead an internal and external team to deliver on commitments.
  • Ability to manage plant and 3rd party relationships in complex situations.
  • Proficient personal computer and software skills
PERSONAL QUALITIES
  • Must possess and exhibit strong ability to work cohesively with others to accomplish project objectives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented and can multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to function as a team member, leader and business partner with a strong commitment to team concept.
  • Must possess strong facilitation, conflict management, and negotiating skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Automation, Chemical, Industrial or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3+ years in a manufacturing environment and/or project management role.
  • Demonstrated experience in process control & automation.
  • Demonstrated experience in Engineering Project Management in a manufacturing environment.
