About the role

Your Opportunity

As the Quality Control Laboratory Facilitator for Cataño, PR you play an important role and you will be responsible for the planning and directing the internal activities of the quality control laboratory and the Tasting Program related to the elaboration of the products in the different manufacturing stages, following the requirements established by the company.  You will also ensure the compliance with programs such as ISO 9001, the Global Quality Manual, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Document Control System and HACCP Program.

With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:
  • Supervise the specialized and confidential work of the quality control laboratory following the processes and procedures established by the company.
  • Ensure high quality performance and professional development of your work team, sharing the mission, vision and objectives of the department.
  • Carry out performance evaluations to the employees under your charge.
  • Prepare statistical, financial and / or operational reports and present them in the corresponding forums.
  • Work, together with the management team of your area or department, in the search for new opportunities to improve processes or business sources.
  • Provide by means of certificates of analysis of the products and send to the corresponding personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with global policies, the quality management system, good laboratory, and manufacturing practices, as well as health and safety standards.
  • Determine and communicate, based on the results of reports and analysis, the retention of out of specification products.
  • Prepare graphs and reports, as required, on trends and behaviors in products with the purpose of making recommendations based on the results.
  • Carry out performance indicators for your area and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate and report the findings of consumer and customer complaints about product quality following the procedures established by the company.
  • Address the findings of internal and external audits following the procedures established by the company.
  • Ensure and record calibrations, equipment validations, process evaluations, changes in product specifications, and any other process linked to the quality function.
  • Keep the LIMS system updated, recommend, and communicate changes to it if necessary.
  • Purchase materials and equipment for your work area following the procedures established by the company.
  • Manage the budget for your work area and report any variation in it.
  • Guarantee coverage of the extra time required to the personnel under their charge.
  • Continuous improvement in meeting the findings of internal and external audits following the procedures established by the company.
  • Conduct investigations of quality control laboratory events.
  • Comply with and ensure compliance with the rules and procedures of Environmental, Health, Safety, Management and Policies established by the company.

Skills and Experience

The Skills & Experience needed to create your legacy
  • You must have five to six years of experience in Analytical Laboratories and three to four years of experience in Laboratory Supervision and Laboratory Techniques, Microbiology and LIMS.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science.
  • Chemical License Preferably.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English and Spanish).
  • Excellent skills in developing written reports.
  • Management of multifunctional work teams.
  • Knowledge of systems (Word; Excel; PowerPoint, QSI, Quality Companion, Lotus Notes (Includes QSI).
  • Effective use of the Internet and email.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control systems (Minitab, SPC).
  • Ability to collect, analyze statistical data and prepare control charts.
  • Ability to determine root cause and investigate non-conformities.
  • Analytical and equipment validation skills.
  • Excellent supervisory skills
