About the role

Your Opportunity

The Regional Procurement Manager will lead the effort of implementing and managing the procurement strategy for Sub Sahara Region in alignment with the Global Procurement Strategy and in alignment with key regional  stakeholders. 

S/He will be developing and action plan to achieve global targets for the main pillars of the global procurement strategy
  • Securing supply sustainably
  • at Benchmark Cost
  • and delivering Value beyond cost in charge of the compliance to the Global Procurement Policy regionally

With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:
  • Works closely Procurement Director on defining Sub Sahara Procurement Strategy as well as Global Procurement Direct Directors to implement company policies. - Commercial ownership of the spend for Direct/Indirect categories across all markets globally. This includes management of the execution of the strategy and seamless collaboration with the different functions and regions to ensure delivery of all benefits
  • Optimize the efficiency of direct/indirect Procurement across African markets which focus on achieving stakeholder satisfaction whilst reducing costs to the business
  • To ensure global policies, standards, platforms are implemented.
  • Contribute to Global category strategies by ensuring regional demand data, customer strategic requirements, regional market insights are captured and conveyed to respective categories
  • Work with Global categories to identify and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Land global sourcing initiatives within Region and lead implementation of regional initiatives. 
  • Develop and implement regional sourcing strategies in an efficient and effective way in line with global category strategies and based on company standards and policies.
  • Support regional and local biddings / tenders and supplier negotiations according to the company policies.
  • Delivery of the regional procurement  KPI’s including savings targets and support delivery of global targets.
  • Ongoing contract and local supplier management  and engagement (supplier reviews, KPI’s, adherence to contract etc)
  • Ensure regional and local sustainable supply solutions including contingency, responsible sourcing and supplier performance management.
  • To ensure sourcing process complies with the agreed policies, standards and platforms
  • To maintain strong relationships with regional and local business stakeholders to ensure accurate requirements captured and to promote a positive view of procurement. . Make sure the procurement vision fits to the overall business vision and strategic plans
  • Liaise with the functional leaders to provide visibility on strategies, activities and results.
  • Undertake and own regional / local market research and analysis
  • Be the first line of escalation for supplier issues
  • Contract and SLA management of supply base

Skills and Experience

The Skills & Experience needed to create your legacy
  • Min. 8-10 years of experience in a procurement role, preferably in a multinational environment in a complex matrix structure.
  • Soft & Hard Skills:
    • Familiar with Strategic Procurement processes and skills.
    • Category Management of relevant category, or similar.   Indirect experience essential, direct procurement experience a plus 
    • Organization changes management experience.
    • Proven track record in development and gaining alignment to complex procurement strategies.
    • Able to manage in a matrix environment and to effectively engage with critical stakeholders of same and other functions.
    • Influencing skills 
    • Digital procurement, experience in ESG
    • Strong negotiation skills 
    • Supplier Relationship Management 
    • Industry- and Supplier Analysis 
    • Should cost analytical skills 
    • Sourcing strategy implementation 
    • Design and Planning (Maintain and develop process, anticipate consequences, build plans) 
    • Strong experience in supply matters& expertise: optimization, setup, SLA, Safety Stock, supply & demand, forecasting
    • Comfortable with financial measures and calculations 
  • Language Skills:
    • Fluent English
    • Local Regional Language is a plus
  • Education: Degree, preferably to master’s Level “specialization in purchasing and/or procurement qualification” – i.e. CIPS
