About the role

What does a Safety Manager do?

A unique opportunity to lead and support the development and implementation of Bacardi’s Safety program: PrimoSafe, within the 8 sites (whisky and gin distilleries, maturation sites plus bulk and bottling operations) which constitute the UK Operating Centre. 

In addition to enabling the safety of our Primos across all operations, you will also be responsible for the safety of our operations, two of which are top tier COMAH.


With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:
  • Develop and deliver proactive Safety programs which influence culture and behaviours to achieve an incident free work place
  • Achieve and maintain accreditations that confirm our commitment to Health & Safety programmes which meet our stakeholder obligations in full 
  • Achieve and maintain full compliance with legislative requirements for all sites.
  • Develop safety management system through HAZOP, human factor assessments, hierarchical task analysis etc.
  • Lead Process safety, PTW improvement initiatives
  • Maintain and update COMAH Safety reports in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop workforce at all levels to an appropriate set of clearly defined Health & Safety competencies.
  • To embed/implement Behavioural Safety Programme
  • Ensure that identified EHS training needs are delivered to defined schedule.
  • Liaise with all levels of staff and contractors on matters relating to safety
  • Liaise with external enforcement authorities regarding legal compliance.
  • Provide support for the identification and assessments of safety Capex requirements.
  • Act as EHS contact for projects and initiatives throughout the company
  • Ensure the implementation of all site safety initiatives to achieve the set KPI’s
  • Maintain ISO45000 system compliance 
  • Continually improve health and safety performance across the business

Qualifications and Experience
  • NEBOSH diploma or equivalent degree
  • CMIOSH (or working towards) 
  • Minimum of 10 years EHS functional experience in manufacturing or process industries
  • Knowledge and experience of working in a high risk operational environment
  • Knowledge and experience of Leading Cross Functional Project Teams to deliver EHS initiatives across a business
  • Process Safety background / experience.
Leadership Excellence
  • Exhibit strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Must exhibit strong organizational and project management skills and attention to detail. Ability to coordinate and conduct effective meetings/training for large groups (20 - 30 individuals)
  • Influence and motivate stakeholders
  • Ability to lead a team successfully and develop subordinate capabilities as future leaders. 
  • Must possess strong problem solving & trouble-shooting skills
