About the role


The role of the UK Brand Homes Sales and Marketing Manager is to lead the sales and marketing strategy across the UK Brand Homes - Bombay Sapphire in rural Hampshire and Dewar’s Aberfeldy in the Scottish Highlands. You will be responsible for driving footfall and delivering the marketing strategy and be responsible for overseeing the internal/external communication from Brand Homes representing some of the world’s best brands. You will work with key internal stakeholders and manage external agencies to deliver projects across both brand homes.  


You will have strong experience of writing and leading marketing strategies and delivering against ambitious targets. You will have worked across digital, social media, partnerships and print marketing, and you will have a strong sales background. You will have experience of working within a matrix organisation and delivering projects with multiple stakeholders. As a line manager, you understand what is needed to set up your direct reports for success.  You will represent the brand externally and internally and be prepared to liaise with the wider business to work on global initiatives. You will be a motivated team player with an appreciation of visitor centre operations, and the impact of marketing campaigns on them. You will be based at Laverstoke Mill and report into the UK Brand Homes General Manager but will frequently travel to Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery as the role requires. 


Marketing and Promotions Management 
  • Market and promote the UK Brand Homes to achieve the yearly agreed budget by attracting individuals, the groups market and the events market. 
  • Creation and implementation of a fully integrated marketing, PR and sales strategy for both Bombay Sapphire Distillery and Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, leveraging A&P platforms to drive footfall to site and line manage the Digital Communities and Marketing Managers for each respective business to successfully implement these strategies. 
  • Responsible for overseeing media buying for both Visitor Centres. 
  • Proactive field sales activity to maximise commercial potential through partners, including tour operators, and accommodation providers. 
  • Work with tourism connections in each region (Perthshire and Hampshire) to grow footfall at both Visitor Centres. 
  • Look for new commercial opportunities to expand the bottom line. 
  • Strategically drive business and revenue through digital communication with the Digital Communities and Marketing Coordinators e.g. website, and third-party online presence, social networks, TripAdvisor, PPC, SEO
  • Innovate new PR and promotional activities to drive footfall through the Visitor Centre and raise awareness. 
  • Work within the wider Bacardi business when launching new content to ensure compliance, social responsibility, legal and brand approval. 
  • Work in partnership with local tourism bodies to coordinate marketing activity & PR. 
  • Keeping the Visitor Centres front of mind within the Tourism Industry, including award submissions. 
Line Management 
  • Line manage the Digital Communities and Marketing Coordinators for both Visitor Centres in all marketing related activity. 
  • Lead, motivate and set objectives to drive direct reports to deliver the marketing strategy across both UK Brand Homes. 
  • Ensure business expectations of direct reports are clear, with open communication between all.
  • Carry out timely performance appraisals and encourage and support the personal and professional development of direct reports.
Field Sales
  • Drive group travel operators to site to help fulfil footfall targets and manage relationships. 
  • Drive event bookers to site to market the events businesses and be responsible for the collateral to market the events businesses.
  • Represent the UK Brand Homes at external events including trade fairs and offsite events. 
  • Organise meetings with local tourism partners such as hotels, restaurants, and tourism bodies.
  • Develop partnerships, both site local and national including promotional partnerships, online third-party sales and online travel agencies.
Brand and Advocacy 
  • Understand the relationship between brand advocacy and revenue. 
  • Work in partnership with brand marketing teams to attract the target market, while also delivering revenue and general visitor number targets.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the tour offering and content to ensure a fully on brand experience for every visitor to both UK Brand Homes. 
  • Positively contribute to all PR/press platforms and provide the brand/markets with updates from the Brand Home and help the brand leverage both Bombay Sapphire Distillery and Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery at the heart of global marketing and advocacy campaigns.
  • Host key marketing contacts as required. Be a brand and production expert. 
  • Understand the importance of excellence in customer experience and hospitality. 
  • Make the most of PR opportunities by hosting film crews, either for direct distillery benefit or to support brand team initiatives.
  • Be the touchpoint between the UK Brand Homes and the Brand teams, acting as the stakeholder manager to ensure appropriate messaging is delivered at an operational level.
  • Ensure brand updates are communicated across UK Brand Homes so BVI changes can be delivered at an operational level.
Budget management 
  • Creation and management of A&P budgets, including tracking and monitoring and reporting to the business as required. 
  • Ensure effectiveness of A&P expenditure, monitoring visibility and ROI relating to advertising and promotional activity. 
  • Provide support to the UK Brand Homes General Manager in budget creation for visitor numbers, A&P, spend per head etc. 
  • Provide reports and feedback to the business on visitor numbers, trends, and profiling. 
Compliance and Protection 
  • Ensure that the Bombay Sapphire Distillery and Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery Visitor Centres comply with all corporate governance and EHS licensing legislation. 
  • Ensure the Visitor Centre operates within internal Bacardi guidelines and H&S systems/protocol. 
Other Duties 
  • Have a fundamental understanding and interest in the production process and wider business operations. 
  • Work with the respective teams to ensure all marketing activity is operationally effective.
  • Act as a representative for Bombay Sapphire and Dewar’s Aberfeldy at all times, when communicating with both internal and external contacts 
  • Be willing to manage your workload effectively to support other areas of the business. 
  • Ensure licensing laws are abided by at all times, raising any concerns with a Duty Manager or the Designated Premises Supervisor immediately.
  • Be a team player and willing to help others when needed, including in other departments
  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours according to the business requirements, including evenings, weekends and public holidays. 
  • Any other duty reasonably requested by the UK Brand Homes General Manager

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive sales and or marketing experience from within the leisure, tourism or hospitality industry. 
  • Experience of working with a premium or high-profile brand. 
  • Marketing qualification or equivalent experience. 
  • Experience of media buying and working with agencies. 
  • Budget Management experience. 
  • Event / PR Management. 
  • Experience of managing and motivating teams to deliver consistent and exceptional results.
